What is a collective?

April created Pollinate Collective to honor the depth of skill and craftsmanship our curated group of partners offers our clients. From beautiful drawings and design concepts to expert installation and maintenance, each business we work with adds to the diverse skill of creating landscapes.

Pollinate Collective's projects are creatively overseen by April Owens Design, LLC. April Owens Design has been refining an understanding of place through the study of California's ecosystems and the creation of hundreds of gardens over the past 25 years. Pollinate Collective's unique design approach draws California’s natural landscape into your garden -commercial, public, or residential.

By working within your preferred aesthetic, we create gardens that enhance biodiversity while reinforcing a unique sense of place through the use of permeable hardscapes, swales and dry creeks, fountains, and pathways. Whether you prefer an English, contemporary, modern, minimalist or overflowing style, this is your property. We want it to feel like you.

Once a design is created, our team finds the best installer and supports you the whole way. At every step, from design to installation and beyond, your project has its own unique path - we will help you chart it. We’re happy to work with architects and other team members, too.

This approach ensures every client feels good about the unique sense of place their custom landscape brings. As our client, you will have peace of mind throughout the process.

Beyond the Typical Landscape

Beyond the Typical LandscapePollinate's landscapes do not look like everyone else's - we use plants that aren’t typically found in commercial nurseries. Commercial plants have been cultivated to look the same year-round making them less suitable for California pollinators. This is one of many reasons why Pollinate Collective landscapes are so special - our landscapes have seasonality.Our outdoor spaces literally come to life once installed. We love to hear about the sudden appearance of never-before-seen butterflies and bird species. Your garden will become a haven for hummingbirds, bumblebees, and all sorts of endangered species seeking food and shelter where there once was none. Our clients love wandering their gardens in anticipation of the next natural delight.
